Document (Justice's Notification) franked with 10λ + 30λ service stamp overprinted large ΕΛΛΑΣ tied with ΠΥΡΓΟΣ ΜΟΝΟΦ. 1.ΑΠΡ.1915 (Pyrgos of Monofatsi, Irakleion/Candia) sent to Λιγόρτυνον (Ligortynos), with ΕΙΡΗΝΟΔΙΚΕΙΟΝ ΠΥΡΓΟΥ ΜΟΝΟΦΑΤΣΙΟΥ (County Court of Pyrgos of Monofatsi). Rural posthorn 46 4.4.1915 upon arrival (the document was affixed to the recipient’s residence). Seat of the rural postman Πύργος Μονοφατσίου (Agios Nikolaos, Lassithi).
This is an extremely unusual case, since the document was sent without an envelope (the envelopes were franked with 30λ). It must have been due to a shortage of envelopes at the Magistrate’s Court. Therefore, the clerk of the Magistrate’s Court affixed the required stamps (30λ + 10λ) directly to the document, wrote the recipient’s address on the reverse, and folded it into four, RRRR & F-VF -document minor faults
