The 5-cent Toward United Nations commemorative, issued for the opening of the San Francisco Conference on 25 April, correctly paid the U.S. foreign surface-letter rate. On arrival in Greece, the cover received the circular bilingual ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΟΣ ΕΛΕΓΧΟΣ / PASSED censorship marking. A particularly appropriate postal-history conjunction of the new international organization and immediate post-war controls
