21 August 1908 international letter from Syros to Constantinople, addressed poste restante at Galata. The 25-lepta blue Flying Mercury stamp, affixed across the reverse flap and tied by a Syros datestamp, paid the UPU foreign-letter rate. A clear CONSTANTINOPLE–GALATA / TURQUIE – 24 AUG 08 arrival datestamp records delivery through the French Levant post office. The three-datransmission illustrates the continued use of foreign postal agencies in theOttoman capital for correspondence arriving from Greece.
