Commercial local letter sent by SKOUFA, Skoufa Street 4,
to a recipient (Τ. Χορν) at Vasileos
Georgiou II Street 3, both in central Athens. It bears a single 50-drachma
“Pyrgos” stamp from the Capitals of Prefectures definitive series,
issued on 20 June 1990. The circular ΟΜΑΔΙΚΗ ΕΠΙΣΤΟΛΗ marking identifies
the item as an addressed bulk-mail letter, accompanied by the boxed ELTA
post-horn emblem. As the normal cancellation failed to strike the adhesive, the
stamp was additionally defaced with magenta manuscript lines. An unusual
example of ELTA’s commercial bulk-mail handling.
Dimitris (Takis) Horn was one of the greatest actors of Greek theatre and cinema from the 1940s to the 1980s.
