Registered local letter, probably posted at Athens and addressed to “Mlle DORA MALLI” at Magouliana, Gortynia, The handwritten French endorsement Recommandée confirms registration. The 1.50-drachma franking was unusually placed across the reverse flap, providing additional security against opening. Franked with three 50-lepta Corinth Canal definitives of the 1927 Landscapes issue, cancelled by two impressions of a wavy-line machine cancellation. The distinctly blue central stamp contrasts strongly with the violet shades of the two adjoining examples. The Landscapes issue was introduced on 1 April 1927 and printed by Aspiotis Brothers from plates supplied by Thomas McDonald. The 50-lepta value was later re-engraved using De La Rue plates.
