Greek domestic cover sent on 13 July 1938 from Heraklion, Crete, to Athens. The lower-left corner bears the printed sender’s inscription “Charal. E. Tzedakis – Heraklion, Crete”.
Franked on the reverse with a red 3-drachma King George II definitive stamp, accompanied by a violet 20-lepta “ΠΡΟΝΟΙΑ” (Welfare) postal-tax stamp. The latter was a compulsory charitable contribution rather than part of the ordinary postage. Both stamps are tied by a clear ΗΡΑΚΛΕΙΟΝ circular cancellation.
