CARE, an acronym for Cooperative for American Remittances to Europe, which was modified in 1953 to Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere, was established on 27.11.1945, initially as a provisional cooperative of 22 political, religious, agricultural cooperatives and American workers’ philanthropic organizations.
