Passed by censor at the local censor office; secured with plain provisional tape typewritten ‘ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΛΟΓΟΚΡΙΣΙΑ’, tied with three-ring violet cachet texted ‘ΣΤΑΘΜΟΣ ΧΩΡ/ΚΗΣ ΔΙΑΒΟΛΙΤΣΙΟΥ/[Diavolitsion Gendarmerie Station] in outer belt and ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ [Kingdom of Greece] around crest centrally.
Postmarked again for dispatch on 4 December (front); backstamped on arrival at Athens with ‘AΘΗΝΑΙ 6.XIΙ.40 ΑΦΙΞΙΣ’ [Athens, Arrival 6 December 1940] 9-line wavy postal marking.
No postal or other indications for arrival in Athens except the framed diamond number ‘23’ applied by the delivering postman (back).
