Open commercial corner cover to Athens, franked with 3dr Greek ’Head of King George II’ regular (Historical set, 1937) plus 2x50lepta ‘Social Providence’ (Heads of Queens Olga and Sophia) stamps (1939) cancelled with ‘ΧΑΝΙΑ 23 XIΙ 40 ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΗ’ [Chania Dispatch, 23 December 1940] date-stamp.
Examined at the local censor office; stamped with violet single-line cachet texted ‘ΕΞΗΛΕΓΘΗ’ [Examined].
No postal indications for arrival in Athens except the diamond number ‘27’ applied by the delivering postman.
Condition: Good; short tear on top horizontal edge. See scans.
