Incoming registered cover with “Starigrad No. 1409” perforated registry label to Athens, Greece. Franked with Yugoslavia variety air post stamps to 7.50din (front), plus 2.50din regulars (reverse), cancelled with “STARIGRAD / СТАРИГРАД 14.II.39 postmark in Serbia (today Dalmatia, Croatia).
Backstamped for arrival in Greece with “ΑΘΗΝΑΙ 17.II.39 ΑΦΙΞΙΣ ΣΥΣΤΗΜ.” [Athens Registered, Arrival 17 February 1939] date-stamp.
Passed by the the Exchange Control Office in town; stamped on both sides with violet circular double-ring marking around the Bank of Greece “Seated Athena” motto and “ΤΡΑΠΕΖΑ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ” text plus “ΤΡΑΠΕΖΑ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ / ΥΠΗΡΕΣΙΑ ΠΡΟΣΤΑΣΙΑΣ ΕΘΝΙΚΟΥ ΝΟΜΙΣΜΑΤΟΣ” [Bank of Greece / National Currency Protection Service] inscribed in the outer belt.
Handwritten “notice” with rose-carmine crayon by Post Office officials in Athens for stamps found in the examined envelope (front).
