British official large cover with embossed inscription at top left corner “British Consulate, Patras, Greece” sealed on flap with Spanish wax (also stamped in Greek “Προξενείον Αγγλίας, Πάτραι”); variety of Greek stamps to 11 drachmae plus 50lepta ‘Social Providence’ (Heads of Queens Olga and Sophia) postmarked ’ΠΑΤΡΑΙ 12 ΝΟΕ 40 ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΗ’ [Patrai Dispatch, 12 November 1940].
Cover bears on front a grey-blue 2-circle “BRITISH CONSULATE PATRAS” diplomatic cachet along with violet 3-circle Greek stamp texted “ΤΜΗΜΑ ΓΕΝΙΚΗΣ ΑΣΦΑΛΕΙΑΣ ΠΑΤΡΩΝ” [Department of General Security of Patras].
Dispatched to Kalamata, Peloponnese and stamped with ‘ΚΑΛΑΜΑΙ 4 ΝΟΕ 40’ [4 November 1940] on arrival.
