Incoming corner cover " ΠΡΟΞΕΝΙΚΟ ΛΙΜΕΝΑΡΧΕΙΟ / ΠΟΡΤ ΣΑΙΔ / 26 El Gomhouria St. / Port Said - Egypt" , franked with single 1 pound and pair 2X1 pound, Egyptian definitive issue stamps. As we see the single 1 pound stamp canceled with illegible Egyptian hand stamp, probably from Port Said, with clear date 14.04.2011. The pair 2X1 pound is uncancelled and is obvious that is attached additionally, over the old cancellations. On cover exists also machine pmk of Cairo with date 18.05.2011 and another round with date 17.05.2011 (censorship marking ?). On reverse exists another dumb machine pmk with clear date 18.04.2011. (censorship ?). The cover was shipped from Cairo with at least 1 month delay,
According my opinion there are the following possibilities for the shipping delay. Or the cover was returned for additional postage fees or the shipping delayed due to the events of 2011 Egyptian Revolution. On 11 February 2011, Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman announced that Mubarak resigned as president, turning power over to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF). The military junta, headed by effective head of state Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, announced on 13 February that the constitution is suspended, both houses of parliament dissolved and the military would govern for six months (until elections could be held).
Another interesting thing for the above cover is the fact, that is addressed to the Mayor of Dodecanese Island Astypalaia, unusual and rare route.
