[Greek 1st Army Corps units (‘Greek Expeditionary Corps’) disembarked at Southern Russia ports from 1st January to 20 March 1919; next, they headed to Romanian ports along with fresh units arriving from Greece. Last troops of the Greek Corps were transported from Romania by sea to Turkey on 7 July, to occupy Smyrna city and greater area in the country’s Aegean region; the Hellenic Air Squadron though was ordered to head to Salonika in order to take part in military preparations to occupy Eastern Thrace.] Text by Socrates Bosovitch
