Four Greek lithographic stamps: 3l Hermes head + 50l Hermes (1912-19) and 20l Iris + 30l Hermes overprinted “ET” in 1916, all overprinted in May 1920 with a 3-line overprint reading “Διοίκησις Δυτικής Θράκης” [Administration of Western Thrace].
Used in July 1922, cancelled with ‘ΚΥΝΟΣ ΣΗΜΑ (ΕΛΛΗ) -.ΙΟΥΛ.1922 datestamp (Kynos Sima -Elli & Kilid Bahr, Turkey, directly across the Dardanelles Narrows).
Rare.
[In May 1920, the Greek forces replaced the inter-allied troops in Western Thrace, while the occupation was expanded to Eastern Thrace two months later leaving the entire Thrace under Greek administration. The Greek Army evacuated Eastern Thrace area, east of Evros river, in October 1922.]
