GREECE 1946 Registered Cover from Mytilene Island to Morocco franked on the front with two copies of the 600dr/8dr, a single 250dr/3dr and a single 50dr/1dr value all from the Reinstatement of King George II to the throne Surcharges Issue, tied by ΜΥΤΙΛΗΝΗ ? ? 46 ΣΥΣΤΗΜΕΝΑ dispatch date stamp (with a very clear strike of the postmark also on the back, applied on arrival) . Also on the front a boxed R MYTILINI GR NO black registration mark and a boxed ΕΝΑΕΡΙΩΣ PAR AVION Airmail mark. As the recipient was not found, his name and address in Morocco were crossed out and two boxed postal marks were applied on the front INCONNU (Unknown) and RETOUR A L'ENVOYEUR (Return to Sender). On the back we have several postal marks including a Moroccan date stamp, a reddish boxed Inconnu a l'appel des Facteurs de Meknes Le Facteur Chef (unknown to the calling of the Meknes clerks, Chief Clerk), and a handwritten Afranc. Insuffisante (Insufficient Franking) - although there is no indication postage due was charged and collected. Cover was returned to Greece via ΠΕΙΡΑΙΕΥΣ 31 Χ 46 ΑΦΙΞΙΣ ΣΥΣΤΗΜΕΝΑ, forwarded to Mytilene (4 Nov. 46 arrival) and to the original sender of the cover in a small village about 16 miles away as indicated both by the sender's handwritten address and a partial ΠΑΠΑΔΟΥ or ΠΑΠΑΔΟΣ 5 ΧΙ 46 circular date stamp. A very interesting to/from piece of postal history.
