GREECE 1940 Cover mailed from Athens to Egypt, undergoing both Greek Currency Exchange Control inspection and Egyptian Military Censorship. Cover is franked with four 2dr Historical issue stamps, a single 1dr Queens and a 50L Anti-TB Charity (Postal Tax) stamps, all tied by ATHINAI 22 V 40 circular date stamps. On the front there is a bold and clear strike of the ΠΕΝ (Προστασια Εθνικου Νομισματος - Protection of the National Currency) in circle handstamp applied by the Greek authorities. Upon arrival in Egypt, the cover was inspected by the Postal Censor (square violet handstamp) and sealed with bilingual English Arabic OPENED BY CENSOR / EGYPTIAN CENSORSHIP tape. Partial ALEXANDRIA 18 MA. 40 arrival on the back. Also, part of a machine cancel as evidenced by the wavy lines, maybe Athens. Cover thinned on the middle back. Very attractive.
