Four franchise ‘Feldpost’ stationery postcards from German soldier in Crete, Greece addressed to relative in Vienna, Germany; three issued in October 1941 and one in February 1943.
Dispatched through the “Dienststelle (Service) unit Feldpostnummer 43805”; two of them are stamped with same no. 56278 single-ring cachet in olive-brown.
Sender’s details shown on the upper left side front of the postcards.
The unit designation number “43805” was assigned to Nachrichten Betriebs Kompanie Kreta (K) [Communications (Signals) Company, Crete], stationed on the island.
The cards bear different FELDPOST postmarks used in four periods: ‘g’ 08.11.42 (Rethymnon, 01.09.42-19.11.42), d’ 26.11.42 (Chania, 26.11.42-14.04.43), ‘a’ 04.06.43 (Chania, 20.04.43-29.07.43), and ‘d’ 23.05.44 (Chania, 26.10.43-09.07.44).
