Boy Scouts of Greece (‘Soma Hellinon Proskopon’) special cover printed for the ‘Hellenic Boy Scouts Golden Jubilee, Panhellenic Jamboree at Amfiklia’ [20-31 July 1960] on the occasion of the movement’s 50th Anniversary in Greece and the 2nd National Boy Scouts’ Jamboree held at Amfiklia, central Greece.
Addressed to Warrant Officer in Athens, it was deposited at the provisional civil post office set up on the grounds of the Jamboree; the cover bears a large double ring commemorative cachet texted ‘ΠΑΝΕΛΛΗΝΙΟΝ ΤΖΑΜΠΟΡΗ ΙΩΒΗΛΑΙΟΥ / ΑΜΦΙΚΛΕΙΑ 23-7-60’, dated on the first day of its use there.
Postmarked ‘ΑΜΦΙΚΛΕΙΑ 23 VII 60 AMFIKLIA’, and dispatched post-free as the addressee then served his term in the Hellenic Navy. Backstamped next day with d.r. ‘ΑΜΦΙΚΛΕΙΑ 24.VII.60’ in transit to Athens GPO, where it received a pencil endorsement ‘Β.Σ.Τ. 902’ to be redirected via the 902 Base Army Post Office (Athens) to the Ministry of Navy].
Put in the Greek Military Postal stream and stamped on reverse with “Β.Σ.Τ. 902 26 VII 60 [Base APO 902, 26 July 1960” dated cancelling-machine postal marking, added with 3-line imprinted anti-communist slogan in Greek reading "ΚΑΘΕ ΚΟΜΜΟΥΝΙΣΤΙΚΟ / ΕΝΤΥΠΟ ΧΡΗΜΑΤΟΔΟΤΕΙΤΑΙ / ΑΠΟ ΤΟΥΣ ΕΧΘΡΟΥΣ ΜΑΣ" [Each communistic printed matter is financed by our enemies].
Ms endorsed ’28-7-60’ by the addressee for receipt (front).
