(Following the signing of Germany's surrender on 8 May 1945 in Symi, the British reached Rhodes the next day and established the BRITISH MILITARY ADMINISTRATION of DODECANESE (B.M.A.): New Post Office reopened in Karpathos (21/5), and after short intervals, followed other islands. British stamps overprinted "M.E.F." were transported from Cairo for the needs of the new Pos.
