POSTAL FRAUD
1867: Part of entire letter sent unpaid from TRIESTE 31/3 to SYROS 23/8 (old style calendar) charged on arrival with the correct 60 lepta rate for a first weight letter from Trieste to a Greek port via an Austrian Packet. The post office clerk at the Syros Post Office illegally affixed two previously used copies of 20 and 40 lepta.
An impressive effort of the post office employee to decieve the post office and pocket the 60 lepta amount.
Most interesting, see scans.
