Carte-visite small cover from Piraeus to Athens, franked with Greek 3L Hermes’ Head (lithographic issue, 1913) [special rate required for visiting cards up to five words domestic mail, in effect from 1 Jan. 1911 to 6 Sep. 1917] plus 2L ‘National Relief’ charity stamp (1914) [surcharge provided by law first for the 11 March to 13 April 1914 period and thenceforward for the Easter and Christmas/New Year festive periods].
The adhesives are cancelled with ‘ΠΕΙΡΑΙΕΥΣ 31 IAN. 14 ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΗ’ [Piraeus Dispatch, 31 January 1914] date-stamp with month element apparently set wrongly, instead of “ΜΑΡ”, correct indication for ‘March’.
Condition: Excellent; See scan.
