Sender ms details: “Drossinis, ‘Amaryllis’ Kephisia”. Message text dated ‘31.Αυγ.41’ [31 August 1941], addressed to his two daughters in Rome.
Censored in Rome (COMMISSIONE PROV. DI CENSURA ROMA, examiner ‘101’) on arrival to Italy.
[Poet, novelist, journalist and academician George Drosinis has been one of the leading modern Greek poets; born in Athens in 1859 and died in 1951 at the age of 92 years, in Kifissia north of Athens.
He lived the last thirteen years of his life (1938-1951) in the villa "Amaryllis", which became a literary salon, and where he passed the difficult years of the German/Italian occupation of Greece.]
