"Chains" Surcharged 30d on 5d (Scott Greece N244, 244a - variety; Hellas 3a, 3b): Complete sheet of 50 stamps with selvage all around, all stamps with double impression of the green color (as usual, the one color is lighter than the other but distinct printing especially when looking at the value tablets as well as the printer's imprint), a closeup of position 16 (NAYOΛΙΟΝ instead of ΝΑΥΠΛΙΟΝ, variety of main stamp listed in all catalogs). Gum is original, never hinged, but evenly toned, except around the edges and the bottom which is heavier than the other stamps - from the front it is not visible as such and does not detract. This is one of two sheets known to me with this variety. The Hellas catalog lists both the NAYOLION variety and the double impression of the stamp but does not list the combination of these two varieties which is found only on that one position.
