1834: Entire folded letter written in French by the French Consul (Vasse Saint Ouen, ex Consul in Odessa), with dateline "Larnaca le 22 novembre 1834", announcing his arrival in Cyprus as Consul and giving information about the Public Health (only some "local fevers"). The letter was entrusted to the Captain of the Brig "L'Aimable Pauline" Peyronnet, to be sent to Marseilles, disinfected upon arrival, with 2 large vertical slits & handstamp PURIFIE LAZARET MARSEILLE.
